Argo Composer
100% Local. 100% Private. 100% You

The main Manuscript editor interface of Argo Composer

Available Q3 2026: A Clean Sheet redesign of the entire authoring process, with every tool you need, included. A perpetual license, zero telemetry, no SaaS fees, no training someone else’s AI against your intellectual property. Powered by the Argo Continuity Engine, Argo Composer delivers the greatest in local AI organization, but never writes your prose. See how Argo Composer stacks up against others.

An Important Note regarding Minimum Requirements for the Argo Composer Beta: At this time, we are issuing beta advanced access for Windows 10/11. Silicon-based MacOS systems will follow in the weeks following the public release to the Windows platform.

As running the locally installed AI Continuity Engine, it relies upon graphics card VRAM to function properly. Although Argo Composer “can” be installed on PCs with embedded video cards, the performance is unacceptably slow and is not supported.

The minimum recommended hardware profile for Argo Composer a Windows 10/11 host is 8GB VRAM, 16GB main memory, and 3.0Ghz 12 core, 24 thread X86-64 processor.

Individual character timeline tracking and interactions in the Character Gallery

Automatic Individual Character Tracking. No Re-Tagging Required

Each character has their own journey, but keeping track of it can be labor intensive. Re-tagging keywords for every chapter, new filters and building collections just to be rewarded with a stack of post-it notes is a losing proposition.

Each character has a personal timeline that automatically updates with events, associations with other characters and chronology out of the box.

More Than Just a Timeline

Shown in the App-Wide Dark Mode!

The Timeline of the Argo Composer foundation reveals fast, intuitive relationships between characters, parallel narratives, beats and interaction.

Plotters: Design your story elements the way you want, and the Continuity tab in the Manuscript Editor will follow, outlining writing goals, events and chronology.

Pantsers: Write your novel. When you’ve written something, commit the changes and watch the timeline reflect your vision.

Your Concepts, Displayed Your Way

The Canvas is a freestyle document, media, and video organizer to arrange your thoughts on beats, events, visuals and background information in a pleasing graph display. Assign elements to Timeline events with a simple control.

The Most Laborious Task in Writing Just Got Easier: Revision Mode

Import your Beta Reader’s Feedback documents in DOCX format into Argo Composer, and edit your Master Document side-by-side with the changes, redactions and additions clearly juxtaposed with the Beta Reader’s suggestions and inline edits.

The Autoscrolling documents keep your text diffs synchronized and easy to find.

You Take Your Writing Seriously.
So Does Ghost Tractor’s Argo Composer

There are too many reasons to try Argo Composer to let it pass.

  • A World-Class AI is used for amazing organization and continuity only. It does not, and will not, write your prose.

  • 100% local to your computer

  • 100% private. Even we don’t know what you’re writing

  • A perpetual license. Try finding one of those elsewhere, these days

  • No requirement for training or classes just to use an application feature

  • No training someone else’s LLMs

  • No telemetry, does not “call home,” and will never use your intellectual property. *

  • No monthly SaaS fees

  • No vendor lock-in

  • No purchasing a sidecar Timeline app or other “helper” programs

  • Multiple export options, including Shunn Publishing Submission format, ePub, DOCX, HTML, MD and TXT

* Argo Composer only makes the following outbound calls: The vendor license key activation which goes to the merchant, the Dictionary and Thesaurus requests to the open-source dictionaryapi.dev, and the initial Argo setup that downloads the AI .gguf file (this is to keep the initial installer file size reduced).

Ghost Tractor is…

…Headed by a Solo Founding Developer with over 30 years in the tech industry and a taste for literature, data, CMS systems, and web development. Located in the Greater Austin, Texas area, Bryan loves nothing more than visualizing what workflows and processes can be.

Argo Composer was conceived at the beginning of 2026 when I was looking into the possibility of writing a novel that I had been knocking around my brain for a long while. As a techie, and as I would identify later as a “plotter,” I was looking into tools, organizers and suites for writing… and was quite disappointed. The solutions I found were either archaic, deeply unrefined, expensive and/or insecure, and had a tendency to train other people’s LLMs. There had to be a better way.

So, I made one.
